a 1994 film starring Tim Robbins directed by Frank Darabont based on the story written by Stephen King. This film retells the story of banker Andy Dufresne whose simple life was shattered when he was wrongly accused of murdering his wife at their house. He was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonmentl. Arriving at the Shawshank Redemption Penitentiary Cell was the last thing Dufresne could ever imagined much more when he discovered the distressing environment and life as a convict.
He was disgruntled to find the messy and disappointing life in the prison cell. Andy soon befriended with Red Redding (Morgan Freeman), where he learned so many lessons in life including the reality of being an inmate. He soon discovered the real perpetrator of the crime but later on was murdered inside the jail. He also uncovered the corrupt practices in the jail and offered several suggestions to the administrators using his expertise in finance. He had tricked the officers to reveal the anomalies and later became the instrument of the changes in the adminstration.
Thinking he would never be given a parol, Dufresne dig a hole in his cell until reaching the tunnel. He was free at last and went to an island in Mexico. Redding was granted a parol years later and joined his friend in the island.
This is the story of friendship and freedom and the harsh reality of mistakenly accused of the crime that was never committed. A wonderful movie to watch with the whole family.
